Try opening your CSV import file in excel or numbers to be certain that your data is in twelve columns; the column order must be left alone.  You can not use different headers.  If asked, save as “comma delimited format.  Be sure you “Save As or “Export as a CSV file, NOT xls or xlsx.

Be sure you are running the latest version of Teacher’s Assistant.  Open the “app store app on your device and tap “update.

There is a good chance you have a comma in your data somewhere.  Maybe you have two email addresses one cell (you cannot have multiple email addresses yet).  So double check your cells in excel or numbers for extra commas and try exporting again.  Also try changing the file name.

Will you add another place for more email and phone numbers?

Yes, it’s done.

Will you add a place to save parents’ names?

Yes, it’s done.

Can I sync my student data between multiple devices?

Syncing between multiple devices is not yet supported.  I am working on an update which will use a premium and secure cloud service as long as the data belongs to the same user (subscription will be required).  You can always exchange data by going to “settings, “export and “send via email if you just want to send your data to another device.  Using this method, the data will not “merge, it will replace your existing data.

I am tapping the plus sign to add a student but the app closes…

Please update to the latest version of the Apple iOS.  Plug your device into your computer, open iTunes, click your device in the left column, and click “Update.  iOS 4.3 is the MINIMUM requirement for Teacher’s Assistant.

Why can’t I print directly in Teacher’s Assistant?

You can.  Be sure you are using the latest version of iOS and TAP.

Can I add more fields?

Yes.  This ability is located in the app settings “Customize Action Fields.

Can I put in student grades, attendance, birthdays, seating charts, etc.?

Yes.  Put these items at your convenience under settings, then “Student Details.

When I send an email to a parent, how do I make sure that my email address is my school's address and not my personal email address?

You must add your school email account to your device from the “settings app, then tap “Mail, Contacts, Calendars to add your school account.  Your school’s IT department may help you add your school email account to your device.

How about an Android version?

Android is in the works right now.  Look for it in August 2013.

What about a Mac/Windows version?

A Mac version is available now.
